Mokoro Ride - Okovango

Mokoro Ride – Okavango Delta

Botswana is an independent nation situated in the centre of southern Africa, rich in diamonds. It is considered one of the most democratic and stable countries in Africa. Most of the country comprises dry semi-desert and is extremely flat. It rains so little in this arid land that rain is more of a blessing than a hindrance.

The most arid and sparsely vegetated part in the south-west is known as the Kalahari desert.

In the north two prominent rivers flow into the country from Angola, the Chobe which at various points is sometimes called the Kwando and the Linyanti, and further west the Okavango. This river is renowned for the massive inland delta at its end which must be one of the most remarkable wildlife areas on Earth.

Botswana has many private areas with small camps and abundant wildlife, and variety of excellent accommodations including some of the most luxurious camps in Africa.

Botswana offers a variety of activities on land and water. Day and evening game drives, boat and mokoro (dug-out canoe) safaris stand out. Walking and various other activities are also possible.

We often plan safaris to Botswana at least a year ahead of time in order to book space in these small intimate camps.
